. governor jerry brown announced yesterday the shortfall and nearly twice what was expected and he's warning bigger cuts and higher taxes could be on the way. abc7 news reporter john alston shows us the potential impact. >> reporter: next weekend seniors at san francisco state are set to graduate, but students who still have more time to go are bracing for more cuts and higher tuition. students like kenny lee, who is thinking about finding another part-time job. >> i want to get one more part-time job even though i am already working around 15 hours a week now. probably i will ned to get one more just to support myself and to pay my tuition. >> this latest jolt came from governor brown who released this video, announcing that $9 billion budget deficit predicted in january has now ballooned to $16 billion. he says tax revenues have not increased as much as expected because the economy has not bounced back. the governor used the opportunity to make another sales pitch for his november tax initiative. >>> the plan as high income earners to pay up to 3% more in their income taxes for seven years

gray's campaign to sulaimon brown's campaign just so he would continue to go up against mayor adrian fenty and say nasty things about him. now howard brooks today was a consultant for mayor vincent gray's campaign and today he said that he lied to federal agents as they investigated this bizarre question of these money orders being passed. the only thing he admitted to -- the only thing he pleaded to was lying, but he admitted to a whole lot of other wrongdoing, thousands of thousands of dollars worth of money orders that he collected apparently from mayor gray's campaign and passed off to brown writing other people's names on it, which is illegal in the city. that's hiding the source of a campaign contribution. we had a chance to talk to howard brooks' lawyer today. we spoke to him a few minutes ago. here's what he had to say about how he's doing. >> it's obviously a cuff day, but i think he handled it extremely well. i think his demeanor in front of the court reflected his regret and there's contrition. you know, i hope that was conveyed accurately to the court today. >> re

'm terrell brown. >>> the man who says he killed etan patz is scheduled to be arraigned today 33 years to the day the then-6-year-old boy vanished blocked from his new york city home. police say they have a signed confession from pedro hernandez. it's still unclear what, if any, evidence officials have to prove hernandez's story. john miller has more. >> reporter: in 1979 pedro hernandez, then 18 years old, worked at his family's small grocery in the soho neighborhood just a block from where 6-year-old tan patz disappeared on his way to school. based on a tip, detectives from new york city drove to this small house in maple shade, new jersey, and brought hernandez to the police station. commissioner ray kelly announced the arrest. >> hernandez described to detectives how he lured young etan from the school bus stop, led him into the basement of the bodega, choked him there and disposed of the body by putting it into a plastic bag and placing it into the trash. >> reporter: police say hernandez was brought back to the scene of the crime where he retraced his steps for investigators. pro
